Welcome to Doctor Nurse: Same Heart, Bigger Vision
You may have noticed a few changes around here.
A new name.
A new website.
A refreshed podcast.
New resources.
New colors, new fonts and—because apparently I have no self-control—quite a few new doodles.
Welcome to Doctor Nurse.
This isn’t simply a new coat of paint. It’s the beginning of a bigger vision for how I want to support nurse practitioners throughout their careers.
Why Doctor Nurse?
My professional life has never followed a perfectly straight line.
I started as a nurse, became a nurse practitioner, earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice, launched a podcast, created clinical resources and somehow became an entrepreneur along the way.
There were a few pivots.
A few experiments.
And probably more Canva designs than any reasonable person should create in one lifetime.
But every part of the journey kept pointing me toward the same mission:
Helping nurse practitioners build careers—and lives—they genuinely enjoy.
That is what Doctor Nurse represents.
It brings together my experience as a nurse, nurse practitioner, educator, podcast host and entrepreneur under one home.
So, What Changed?
Over the past several years, my work has primarily focused on helping NP students and new nurse practitioners develop their clinical knowledge and confidence.
That work began under a different name and grew into clinical guides, educational resources, courses and conversations that helped NPs bridge the gap between school and real-world practice.
But the community’s needs—and my vision—continued to grow.
Because being an NP involves much more than knowing how to perform an assessment, present a patient or create a treatment plan.
It also means navigating:
- Job searches and interviews
- Employment contracts and salary negotiations
- Workplace challenges
- Burnout and career changes
- Leadership and professional growth
- Entrepreneurship and unconventional career paths
- New technology, including artificial intelligence
- The occasional “What am I doing with my life?” moment
The former brand was an important part of the journey, but the mission had outgrown its original container.
Doctor Nurse gives it room to grow.
The Clinical Resources Aren’t Going Anywhere
Don’t worry—no one tossed the clinical guides into a digital dumpster during the rebrand.
The trusted resources developed over the years are coming with us.
Doctor Nurse will continue to provide practical clinical education for NP students, new graduates and practicing nurse practitioners.
You’ll still find support for patient assessments, clinical rotations, case presentations, physical exams and the transition from student to provider.
Now, those resources will live alongside tools and conversations designed to help you navigate your entire career.
Think of it as the same heart with a much bigger umbrella.
And possibly better fonts.
A New Chapter for the Podcast
The podcast has also entered its next chapter as the Doctor Nurse Podcast: The Nurse Practitioner Career Resource.
The show will continue sharing honest conversations with nurse practitioners, but it will also introduce you to healthcare leaders, educators, CEOs, entrepreneurs and innovators.
We’ll talk about the parts of an NP career that rarely appear in a textbook:
The interviews.
The negotiations.
The mistakes.
The pivots.
The unexpected opportunities.
The jobs that look great on paper but make you question every decision that led you there.
And the careers that prove there is no single “correct” way to be a nurse practitioner.
These are the conversations I wish more of us had access to when we were starting out.
What Doctor Nurse Stands For
Doctor Nurse is a place for nurse practitioners who want to grow clinically, professionally and personally.
It’s for the NP student trying to survive clinical rotations.
The new graduate preparing for a first interview.
The experienced NP wondering whether it’s time for a change.
The future entrepreneur with an idea scribbled in the Notes app.
And the nurse practitioner who loves the profession but wants to create a career that fits the rest of their life.
Here, we’ll talk about clinical confidence and career confidence.
Patient care and professional growth.
Traditional roles and unexpected possibilities.
Successes, mistakes and everything we learn between the two.
Moving Forward Without Forgetting the Journey
This transition isn’t about pretending the earlier chapter didn’t happen.
It helped shape the resources, community and mission that exist today.
But sometimes a vision grows beyond the name it started with.
So, we’re carrying forward everything that still serves nurse practitioners while making room for new ideas, conversations and opportunities.
We aren’t starting over.
We’re building forward.
Welcome to Doctor Nurse
Whether you’ve been part of this community for years or found it five minutes ago while avoiding charting, I’m glad you’re here.
Doctor Nurse is your home for clinical resources, career guidance and honest conversations about what it really means to build a life as a nurse practitioner.
There will be education.
There will be encouragement.
There will probably be another redesign at some point because I am still me.
But most importantly, there will be resources and conversations that help you move forward with greater confidence, clarity and purpose.
Welcome to Doctor Nurse.
Clinical resources. Career resources. Real conversations.
Let’s build careers—and lives—we actually love.
